no one will give a shit about the seats once pellegrini clears out the dead wood and has his own squad next year

Won't wash.. Its needs knocking down and starting over.. With new owners.
that won't happen even with new owners, nobody is going to buy the club for x 100 million, then spend another x 100 million to move the fans nearer the pitch with no real return

the steps are pretty shallow as it is down there I think, would be tough to go even less

I read the answers that seats to the edge of the pitch would block the view of seats in the upper tire, but I still think that if they adjust the slope of the new pitch side seats to the necessary angle this can be done if the will is there... It would look a bit odd, with an even larger flat area between the front and back seating and may reduce the number of seats possible in the lower tire. But WTF, I would put a massive bar area in the space. Clearly I am in the wrong line and should be a football stadium consultant...

13 - Because the rake of the seats at the sides is different from the ends and doing it at the sides would block people's view higher up. Because it's an oval bowl there's more room at the ends to play around with. Also if you tried to do it for the East Stand you would lose too many of the in-fill seats which are the most expensive 1966 ones.
It's being considered now, because the company that does the moving of the seats has major incentives to save on the cost and time taken for the changes. Now they've had 2 seasons to work out what they're doing, this is one solution to save money and time.

Someone remind me why they can't do this at the sides too and why this couldn't happen before we moved in?

Each to their own but personally I love the place. I don't buy the view is crap rubbish. I don't need to see the players faces close up to make it a 'proper football stadium'. I'm in 244, up in the Gods, the cheapest seat and I reckon it's bloody great for football. I can see everything I need to enjoy the game.
Only an idiot would question the clubs motives for the deal. We get the biggest club ground in London for £2 million a year. No wonder it was called the Deal of the Century. Good on them. It's one of the few things they've done right.
Some people are just never happy and I'm certainly not going to let them spoil my enjoyment of the London Stadium. I had nearly 30 years as a STH at Upton Park, I ended up hating the journey, the surroundings and the stadium. Apart from the last season it had been pretty toxic over there for a while. It was the right time to go.
And on that note......

Now we know it was all lies, but all most fans had to go on was the promises and assurances. I’m speaking from the perspective of your average fan, who knew nothing about engineering and the feasibility of converting the Olympic Stadium into a football stadium. Some fans may have known from early days how difficult that would be, but most could only go on what the owners said.
It’s up to us to hold them to account. This latest proposal is only being talked about because of the continual criticism of the distance from the pitch, so the moaning so far has yielded a little result. We should never let them off the hook until we get something like the dream they sold.
Even those who enjoy the new place should get so this too, because it will make it better and we won’t feel like the mugs of English football for allowing ourselves to be mugged off.

"He later said the original planners got it wrong when they said it was possible, but by the time their mistake was realised, they’d already signed the bill of sale on the Boleyn Ground"
He lied about that too, for your guide.
So did Brady when we won it the first time around and she said the club were going to get seating next to the pitch for 10 million quid. A total lie, as shown when people running the LLDC described what West Ham's plan was at the GLA. They were going to keep the seats exactly as they were from the olympics.

It was indeed David “442 Green Street” Gold who said it. He’s old, but he’s not so confused as to accidentally promise things of such huge importance.
He later said the original planners got it wrong when they said it was possible, but by the time their mistake was realised, they’d already signed the bill of sale on the Boleyn Ground. For me, the reason they owe us is because they shouldn’t have been so eager to sell that they didn’t make sure they were absolutely certain they could deliver in the promise.

Why can’t they bring the seats to the edge of the pitch all-around? I am sure it is technically possible. Might look a bit odd, but who cares if the view is better.
